Glorious (Singapore) invests in Clair Brothers Equipment

Glorious (Singapore) Pte Ltd, part of the Glorious Group of Companies headquartered in Hong Kong, have become the latest member of the Clair Brothers family with their recent purchase of a 40 foot container of Clair Brothers Audio System (CBAS) speakers and amplifiers reportedly worth close to S$1 million.

Established in 1992, Glorious Singapore started as a pure pyrotechnics company. Over the next 19 years, they have expanded their services to become one of the largest special effects companies in Singapore with an inventory of products ranging from fireworks and laser to water screens and other high tech equipment. They have been involved in projects like the Singapore National Day Parade 2007, the Singapore Flyer Official Opening in 2008 and the Announcement of the Youth Olympic Games in 2010. They also cover other activities such as corporate events, social functions and product launches.

Two years ago, Glorious Singapore decided to add light, sound and video services to their repertoire. They intended to become the first company in Singapore to offer a full range of services and a one-stop solution for companies or corporations looking to hold events of any scale.

“Our goal was to be the first company in Singapore to turn-key any kind of project,” said Adam Tan, Managing Director of Glorious Singapore. “There are a lot of sound and lighting companies in Singapore but they do not have pyrotechnics licenses. Conversely, there are pyrotechnics companies in Singapore but they don’t own sound, light and video equipment. I think going in this direction will help us to create a niche and provide our clients with cost savings as well.”

Adam thinks that this strategy has been working well for Glorious Singapore for the last two years and they have clients who have benefited from it. This was the reason why Glorious Singapore wanted to invest in top quality sound equipment. “If you look at our strategy, we want to provide the best sound services in the market,” he said. “This was the reason why we decided to invest in Clair Brothers equipment. We want to capitalize on their technical expertise, excellent sound quality and solid reputation.”

Glorious Singapore’s decision to invest in Clair Brothers equipment was done in a careful and systematic manner. “From the beginning, we wanted to invest in a system that was established, reliable, award-winning and recognized by industry experts for its exceptional sound. One of my clients mentioned that Clair Brothers was the ‘Rolls Royce’ of sound and that gave me the urge to want to own the brand,” said Adam.

However, Adam is also a practical person and he knew he needed to test the system before he made his decision as a lot of money was involved. Fortunately, Resorts World Sentosa was conducting a comparison test with the system and Clair Brothers’ Singapore distributor, Quad Professional, invited Adam to the test. When Adam heard the system for the first time, he was very impressed. “The Clair Brothers system clearly had the best sound,” he said. Adam also did some research on the Clair Brothers system and found that it had won numerous awards. There were other factors that Adam had to consider before making his decision. They system had to be mobile, easy to set-up and easy to maintain. Only the Clair Brothers system could fulfill all these requirements.

Since the Clair Brothers system was delivered to Glorious Singapore, it has been used in three separate events. The first event, a show for the National University of Singapore (NUS), took place only two days after the system was delivered. Although Adam’s team had no time to test the system, it worked perfectly straight away and the client was so impressed that they are talking to Glorious Singapore about doing another event.

The second event where the system was used was the high profile Avalon At Large Mega Music Event at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 23 – 24 September 2011. The technical director for the event, Billy Magendran of Snipe Media, was very impressed with the sound quality from the system and so were the international DJs present for the event.

The third event where the system was used was a corporate event for Prudential at the Singapore Expo. “The event management company and the client were so pleased with the Clair Brothers system that they commented that it was the best sound they had ever heard in all the years that they have been running this event,” said Adam. Needless to say, Adam has been very happy with the feedback from his clients so far.

Another bright spot for Glorious Singapore since they purchased the Clair Brothers system has been the support they have received from the distributor. “The service we have received from Quad Professional has been very good and that is one of the reasons why we invested in Clair Brothers equipment,” Adam confided.

Although Glorious is very satisfied with their investment, they hope to add more Clair Brothers equipment to their inventory in the future. “At the moment, we are doing events mostly in expos, convention halls and ballrooms,” said Adam. “In a couple of years, we may decide to do outdoor events and concerts where we will need to increase the number of cabinets in our inventory.”

On 31 August 2011, Quad Professional delivered Clair Brothers i212-M w/ iS218-M & i208-M w/ iS218-M Line Array System to their inventory list.
